All Sauce and a Touch of Sass: Ruby James sings the blues

This is the story of Ruby James and her new album, Desert Rose. It’s more of a voyage, really, should listeners choose to participate. The album is a musical recount of a woman’s experiences with the joys and heartaches of love. The front cover depicts her (Ruby) alone on a dusty road about to begin her journey, when she meets a man with whom she sets out again to face the world.
As for the crow and the rose, well, Ruby is not quite ready to reveal the full tale. Had money not been an issue, a booklet would have been included with the album to tell the rest of it. She admits, “It is a letdown because [the album] alludes to the crow and the rose … I have a real idea about what the story is, and it definitely ties in with the song ‘Desert Rose,’ which is the title track of the record.”
